January 29, 2026 Groundhog Day Is Approaching, My Anniversary.

The morning lightened sky is coming earlier in the morning when I drive to work. I love this. We recently returned to our much-needed rain, but our snow in our mountains is also going to higher elevations. It’s an unusual year for us with not so much mountain snows this year so far.

Groundhog Day is coming up on Monday. Over 2 and a half years ago, before I had the day job I have now, I was facing early retirement and the knowledge that I had felt I had done everything under the sun with no zest for my future. A previous boss asked me if I would like to join their company again in a different role from the previous job I had there. I thought about it and interviewed for the role and got the job; a customer service role in logistics.

Six months later while watching the morning weather on The Weather Channel from 3am onward before work, a lightning bolt struck my heart and mind symbolically, and I had a serendipity. What if I returned to my 1st love of camera work, editing and add an education of meteorology to it? My first love in another life was actually music and singing, but I needed to retire that for camera work when I lived in Mississippi and then I pursued a degree in Radio, Television and Film.

2 years ago, I pursued a certificate updating my education and technical skills in video editing, received a certificate of video editing from AGI in Boston, and started pursuing meteorology at Mississippi State University. In that adventure I realized I needed refresher classes in math, physics and English so I took a step back to reinvest in these skills then will revisit MSU later. I’m in this for the long haul. I have a full-time job and am taking one class a quarter right now. I bought my Sony PXW-Z90 camera and Go Pro camera to get more opportunities to learn camera work as I go and started a website Dswh33360Journey.com

I’ve looked for opportunities in my degree fields, but it is just not in the cards right now on a part time basis. So, I am taking classes and with the time I have left after studying and working full time I shoot, edit, and produce videos. And on the side each week I study LinkedIn classes on Producing Television.

This is what I’m doing, and I remember Groundhog Day, the day I peeked out of my home and decided to return to my degree fields and add a pursuit of meteorology. I hope you see humor in this as I do. I hope this finds you well. Thank you.🙏
