October 23, 2026 A Little Faith And Luck
I’m revisiting some meditation time this morning. Some good reading and contemplating; refueling my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Our tiny parakeets lay eggs, but when a baby of theirs is born, they abandon it. Luckily my husband is retired, and we have baby parakeet food, and an incubator is coming from Amazon today as soon as possible. We’ve been here before. A previous baby was born, and it broke our hearts because it passed away. We had a thoughtful funeral send off for something no bigger than a pinky fingertip. So far, my doting husband’s feedings seem to be working. It is so tiny. It can only take a drop of food at each feeding. He has the courage to feed it. At first, I couldn’t look because I didn’t know if it would make it. Featherless little aliens, it has survived so far. No amount of effort can pay a person back for the attention they need at a grand total of 25 dollars for a fully functioning bird. Next time we will get same sex birds I vow to myself. We will care for it as long as it keeps living. Precious, Willis, and now baby Elvis; I don’t know how it got that name, but my husband named it. It might be an Elvira instead if it keeps growing. The incubator is small; big enough for baby parakeets who will be growing.
My diet is going well. I’m wondering if it would be better if I drank more water than eating sugar-free Jello when I make it. I’m using a GLP1 because I need help. I lift weights and eat the WW program and count calories. It’s not something I can ever end; it will need to become successfully second nature through practice.
Other people may have vices of their own, but I don’t know of any so personal as the need for food yet with just a slight adjustment the need can become a sin toward the body and your health; an intricate balance of chemistry, calories and spirituality. I went to a dream food festival in September, and it was far from any “sin”. There was exercise, walking, tastes and sips and each night we went to bed fully spent, ready to start again the next day. There were no scales there and when I got back home, I found I did not gain an ounce.
There is a time for discipline and there is a time for rest and recuperation. I find my rest in sleep and meditation; and writing like I am doing now. I have something that pulls me forward; that lights my candle; that strikes my heart like lightning; that quiets my heart towards meditation to contemplate mysteries I do not understand. The spiritual world guides me toward good things and helps me build a life that is a journey. I contemplate each thought and ponder if it is a fruit for harvest in my future. As some ancient writings say, I want to multiply a harvest of good things in my present and future. It will take discipline, work, rest, and meditation for direction and a little faith and luck.
I hope this finds you well. Thank you. 🙏
