Our window of opportunity has come. A moment where there are no storms and we’ll be able to make it over the mountains and back in one day; where we won’t be stranded for any length of time. Not that we would mind it as we have a gracious family who would love it if we stayed; we just have responsibilities to attend to and just 2 days in our weekend. My first weekend of homework is done and my weekend is free. I think I will like working with this instructor. She challenges her students to finish all their homework before the weekend, so my weekends are free.
We’re planning to take video of the pass snow. We pray before we go over that the heavens will protect us in our journey. It pays to protect yourself and not expect someone to come save you if something bad happens. Wear the right clothes for storms; have clothes, food and drink in case you get stranded, have snow tires on and chains available and preferably an AWD vehicle.
There are people driving in the pass in shorts and flip flops with no protection, and their vehicle slides off the road. In a previous life I was in a vehicle that almost slid off a cliff there; needless to say, I decided I would no longer associate with someone who was so lacking in common sense and knowledge to risk their passengers' lives. Driving over the pass is not to be taken lightly. People’s lives can change forever by doing it. It is best to be prepared in every way including extra cash and credit cards in case you do need to stay a night or two even if it is just a day trip.
We hope this finds you well. Thank you.
