December 10, 2025 The Flood In Western Washington

Since we have a creek right below our balcony, I thought I needed to check in on it this evening. It is definitely deeper than it usually is but it is not rushing. I am guessing it mainly just includes run off from the hill we live on and not anything from the mountains, but I will check it again in the daylight. I will work from home tomorrow. My hubby is a driver, and I expressed my concern that he does not drive through any flooding. My daytime job is also in logistics, so we are also alerted to the needs over here in Western Washington.

This is our first flood of the area we are living through locally, and we are all fortunate that family resides on the hills. An emergency proclamation is made by the governor I heard recently. I don’t want to sleep and just want to look to the heavens. We needed rains, but only so much. Our Eastern Washington needed rains more than us so we hope their lakes and reservoirs are filling up over there for their use of water needs.

I was blessed yesterday in that any roadway I took was above the floods. It’s so amazing that our mountains are so huge to be able to collect so much rain. They truly are a resource to us when they collect snow in the winter and slowly melt it down to us in the spring and summer. They are fierce when there is an atmospheric river; not for the faint of heart.

All who are out there, heed the warnings. I know, we always choose to go to work anyway, but this is a time to heed the flood alerts and if needed, to stay safe and take time away to make sure you are safe. Thank you.
