I write poetry on occasion. In a past life I wrote lyrics.
He Whispers in a Prayer (A Poem)
Who are you? You whisper to me in my heart, mind, soul and spirit.
When did you find me?
Was it in my 20s when I ventured to Boston/DC/Texas?
Or was it in Tallahassee or Mississippi? I saw your lightning there.
When did you find me?
Did you find me when I ran through the streets in my 30s?
Did you call my name?
Somewhere I found myself again, no longer singing?
Working in TV and Radio.
I found you in a friend.
I found you in Tornadoes that swept me back to the West.
Then my family collapsed. I had to find time for them. Where were you then?
I lost you as years went by.
I lost myself, my hopes, my dreams, my tears.
Then one day when they were all gone, I heard your voice. You stood there with a smile. No words. Only thoughts and whispers in my mind and heart. Were you real? Are you real? Or am I just going crazy? I hear you. Who are you? Will I know you if I see you?
Thank you for letting me pray again.
Thank you for letting me dream, hope and cry again.
