February 12, 2026 What Is Love? The Philosophical Question

The video is of a morning moon in Western Washington skies.

The greatest philosophy question of my lifetime; What is love? The ancient writing of a lifetime; 1st Corinthians 13; the chapter of love; “…and now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love…” The quest I sought after when I was 19 years old that changed my life head over heels, forever. What is love? A compelling subject this time of year with Cupids flying around with their arrows drawn. My mother loved the little cherub shaped Cupids and many of them decorated her home that now decorate my home in her memory.

I was a young person who was keenly aware that I did not really understand what love was, and I set out to read everything I could get my hands on which included ancient books and present-day books. It was very enlightening what I learned; Phileo, Agape, Eros, different words in ancient languages that meant different things with our one-word love in our English language. I had a lot to learn and still do. Every day I learn how much I don’t know and what a challenge it is to love that I haven’t experienced yet; with my heart, soul, mind, and strength.

What is love? This is a great time of year to ask that question with Valentine's right around the corner. May you find your hearts desires this St. Valentine’s Day. Thank you.
